For the wonderfully weird

Hi, I’m Kai, the founder of Human Enough and the person responsible for putting a skeleton in bunny slippers in charge of a clothing brand.

The story behind Human Enough began with a life that fell apart and had to be rebuilt.

I became homeless and spent time sleeping in my car. I was frightened, isolated and living with daily panic attacks. Eventually, I asked for help and arrived at Depaul.

Depaul gave me far more than somewhere to stay. They gave me safety, stability and the time I needed to begin rebuilding my life. The staff listened to me, believed in me and treated me with kindness when I needed it most.

No matter how bad things became, they never made me feel like I was less of a person. They reminded me that I still mattered and that I was still human.

That stayed with me.

Where Human Enough began

Years later, after rebuilding my life, I started Human Enough.

I wanted to create clothing that felt honest. Not empty motivational slogans pretending everything is perfect, but designs about the strange, funny and sometimes difficult reality of being a person.

Human Enough is for the quiet ones, the overthinkers, the sarcastic ones, the people who feel different and anyone who has ever wondered whether everyone else received an instruction manual they somehow missed.

It’s clothing for people who are still figuring things out, still showing up and making the vibe weird while they’re here.

Meet Malcolm

Malcolm has been with me much longer than Human Enough. I’ve been drawing him since I was a child.

Over the years, he found his glasses, his mug, his questionable sleepwear and, of course, his bunny slippers. Eventually, he became the unlikely face of the brand.

A skeleton wearing a Human Enough hoodie is an obvious contradiction, which is exactly why he belongs here.

Malcolm isn’t polished, heroic or pretending to have everything together. He’s strange, tired, self-aware and doing his best anyway. In other words, he’s one of us.

More than clothing

Human Enough is still growing, but my hope is that it becomes more than a clothing brand.

I want it to create connection, help people feel seen and eventually give something back to organisations like Depaul, whose work gave me the chance to rebuild my own life.
